I wholeheartedly believe that the power of massage therapy can relieve us of many ailments we come across in our lives. I love helping others begin restorative effects through massage therapy so they may enjoy their lives to the fullest. I am constantly learning and expanding my horizons in my field to better serve my clients.
I took the first steps toward my career in massage in 1997 at the Baltimore School of Massage in Maryland and completed a 100 hour certified basic program. After relocating to Mooresville, soon after I enrolled at the Southeastern School of Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy of Charlotte; graduating from the 500 hour program in 2000. I have over 80 hours in Sports Massage training.
I am an avid supporter of RockTape and their continuing education courses and have the following certifications in the following.
FMT Movement Specialist Which addresses multiple considerations that affect our ability to move including the psychological, neurological, motor, connective tissue systems, environment and personalities of our patients and clients.
FMT Blades & Advanced In which uses the concept of movement therapy and performance enhancement via Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM). The concept of skin/fascial/nerve gliding and neuro-sensory pain* modulation via IASTM are used.
FMT Rockpods & Rockfloss Rockfloss explores the science of compression band flossing and fascial shearing to help improve joint mobility, reduce pain*, and enhance movement. Rockpods is similar to Myofascial Cupping which has been around since the early 19th century - only recently has the image of purple circles on professional athlete’s backs created attention to an ancient myofascial therapy. The cups and techniques have changed over time, but the basic premise of the cups providing suction to decompress the underlying tissue remains the same.
Outside of helping others, I enjoy spending time with my family, I love spending time outside in the mountains or on a beach, kayacking, cooking, and reading.
